The Opera Project exists to train and present young Canadian artists to the public, bridging the gap between their training and establishing a career. In addition, The Opera Project invites established professionals from various artistic communities to work alongside these selected singers both as collaborative colleagues and as mentors to hone their skills and provide opportunity for future professional engagements in a broader arena. The Opera Project has also a spiritual intention. It makes space for the disciplined artist who wants to go beyond technical perfection and seek a more fulfilling and encompassing way of singing that touches people and catalyses an opening in all of us.
ABOUT HEIDI KLASSEN Founder & Director of The Opera Project

Ms. Klassen holds a Masters of Music with Distinction from Indiana University where she studied with the legendary soprano Virginia Zeani and with whom she continued to study her roles throughout her career. Ms. Klassen’s career as teacher extends 30 years in which she has taught at the University levels including as Head of the Voice department, University of Manitoba School of Music, on faculty at Edmonton’s NUOVA and is in demand internationally as a voice teacher, adjudicator while sustaining a private voice studio in Vancouver. Presently Ms. Klassen looks for and creates projects that raise awareness for charities and humanity’s awakening.

Featuring a variety of workshops and master classes in several genres, open to the public to audit and designed specifically for higher level students and professionals as participants in a further exploration of their voice, performance, and teaching. Join us for an exploration of the self as musician, human, and spirit. Full calendar, course descriptions, and registration are online at our website. http://theoperaproject.org/
Annual Opera Production http://theoperaproject.org/auditions
This is a by-audition tuition course offered through OPERA KLASS which refers to singers who agree to prepare their roles vocally with Heidi Klassen. The opera is staged and performed for one weekend in late spring/early summer each year.
